What is the project?

We want to encourage broad and productive debate about some of the key practical challenges facing the contemporary left. 

We focus on the radical left, meaning all the political forces whose ambitions go beyond those of traditional social democracy i.e., roughly, capitalism plus a welfare state. The radical left seeks to rein in and replace capitalism with a humane socialist society in which all can flourish and that protects the environment.

We’re focusing for now on the situation in Britain because that’s what we know best, but we hope these discussions will be relevant elsewhere, and we’d be happy to expand our focus later on.
